Little Tikes Commercial Donates Brand New Playground to New Orleans
Children in a New Orleans neighborhood are in for a wonderful surprise this week as PlayPower, parent company of Little Tikes Commercial, will be donating a brand new, state-of-the-art play area. This playground will feature new equipment that has been kid-tested for the fun-factor, while meeting or exceeding national playground safety standards.
The playground will be installed at Samuel Square located Uptown. Grand opening event is planned in this location:

Samuel Square Playground
2100 Napoleon Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115
The new playground is designed to engage children ages 5-12 in fun, active outdoor play that helps develop physical, social, emotional sensory and cognitive skills.
Samuel Square is a popular park in the Uptown neighborhood, named after Samuel Kohn, one of the City’s early real estate developers. The park is located in the former Faubourg Bouligny, which was developed by Samuel Kohn and Laurent Millaudon, who later participated in the development of New Orleans’ street grid. This new playground will be a welcome enhancement to the park’s landscape, and will be appreciated for years to come.
“Parks and playgrounds are important gathering places essential to building strong communities,” said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. “Since taking office, we have and will continue to improve our City’s recreation spaces so that our children have safe places to grow, learn, and play. I want to thank PlayPower Inc. for its generous donation of new playground equipment at Samuel Square playground. Strategic partnerships like this are helping us make NORDC the best recreation department in the country.”
Grand opening event will be attended by representatives of the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission to dedicate the new playground on behalf of the City of New Orleans.
Mike Sutton, Vice President of Sales for Little Tikes Commercial will also be attending, along with dozens of the company’s Sales Representatives. “Our company is honored to partner with the City of New Orleans in their efforts to serve the needs of children and local communities,” said Sutton. “By donating this state-of-the-art playground we hope to create outstanding play environment that will be an attractive destination for families all from over New Orleans.”
“Playgrounds are neighborhood cornerstones,” said Victor N. Richard, NORDC CEO. “Samuel Square provide welcoming and safe places for youth in the community to play, have family fun, and participate in team sports that build character. We’re grateful for the support of PlayPower Inc. for making a positive impact on these communities.”
