Crickets

Crickets is an interactive game that consists of catching creatures by pressing the buttons located throughout the design. Kids can spin the center handle to power up the game, using the instructional graphics for guidance. There are three types of creatures to catch; crickets, signaled by a green light and chirping sound; fireflies, signaled by a silent yellow light; and a frog, signaled by a purple light and croaking sound. The frog will only appear up to two times per game—if caught, it will join in the celebration at the end of the game. The game’s end is signaled by a light-up countdown at the center flower, with a celebratory song and lightshow to follow.

The variety of signals ensure that anyone, regardless of ability level, can participate in the game. Those with visual impairments can follow the sounds, while those with auditory impairments can follow the lights. The buttons are also located at a range of heights, so kids and adults can play alongside each other. The thoughtful spacing of the design also ensures those with mobility devices can move easily throughout the space, while whimsical shapes create a pond-like atmosphere, immersing kids in the play and enhancing your playground’s visual appeal.
